Practical Training Guide of Meridians and Acupoints

The basis of acupuncture is the theory of meridians and acupoints, which can not be separated from each other. Acupoints are the treatment point, while meridians are the guide for points selection based onsyndrome differentiation. The training class aims to let students master the meridian distribution, acupoints location, acupoints indication and manipulations of acupuncture and moxibustion, which lay a solid foundation for the clinical practice in the future. It mainly apply teaching methods of marking meridians and acupoints on students, which is also combined with different teaching instruments to enhance the teaching effect, such as displaying the models, applying the video, film, PowerPoint, multimedia and CAI.

1.Master the conception of acupuncture and moxibustion, the characteristic of acupuncture and moxibustion therapy in order to clearly understand the significance of this course and definitely know that acupuncture and moxibustion is the vital aspect of TCM.

1.Locating Points by Proportional Bone Measurement: This approach to locate points involves measuring the length or width of different portions of the body focusing on bones and joints and then calculating or converting them into proportionalcununits.

2. Locating Points by Anatomical Landmarks: This approach locates points on the basis of a variety of anatomical landmarks on the body’s surface. Bony and muscular anatomical landmarks on the body surface fall into two categories: fixed and moving.

3.Finger-CunMeasurements: The length and width of the patient’s finger(s) are used as the standard for the point location. It includes the following three methods: middle finger measurement, Thumb measurement, the four-finger measurement.

4. The Simple Way of Locating Points: This is an easy way to locate the acupoints for clinical use.
