Introduction to
2ndAdvanced Training Program on Acupuncture and Moxibustion
for African Medical Practitioners
I. Program Introduction
The2ndAdvanced Training Program on Acupuncture and Moxibustion for African Medical Practitionersaims at training African medical practitioners with keen interest in traditional medicine especially in Chinese acupuncture and moxibustion, or with elementary mastery of relevant basic theories and knowledge, grasp of operating skills of acupuncture, ability to treat some common diseases by using acupuncture. The participants are expected to conduct acupuncture clinical treatment and research, and to promote the generalization of acupuncture & moxibustion in Africa.
II. Training Contents
The training contents will include the following:
A. Elementary mastery of knowledge and method for theories of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and TCM diagnostics;
B. Elementary mastery of acupuncture & moxibustion theories, frequently used acupoints, common ways of manipulation techniques, acupoints and auxiliary acupoints selection, and practice of acupuncture skills;
C. Elementary mastery of the methods, acupuncture treatment and prevention of common clinical diseases;
D. Acquaintance of modern study on acupuncture & moxibustion, methodology and progress.
The training will be in the pattern of theoretical study, theme lectures, discussion and technical operations, and etc.

Place: Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Tianjin, China

V. Candidate Qualification
A. Physicians in public hospitals or affiliated hospitals of a university;
B. Bachelor’s degree or above in Medicine or related field, with medical knowledge and clinical experience, core teachers, practitioners, researchers or leading scholars in university, hospital or related departments/institutions;
C. Administrators in health related departments in the government;
D. Senior health care doctors in the government or related departments;
E. Being healthy and not exceeding 45 year-old.
