Established in 1958, Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TUTCM) is one of the earliest universities of TCM in China and the only International University of TCM which is approved by State Education Committee (now Ministry of Education) in 1992. TUTCM is also the “Educational Aid Center” and “China-ASEAN Educational Training Center” of Ministry of Foreign Affairs(MFA) and Ministry of Education (MOE), TCM International Cooperation Center of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SATCM), the director committee member of the Education Instruction Committee of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies(WFCMS) and WFCMS “Belt & Road” Chinese Medicine Education Teacher Training Base (Tianjin).Adhering the motto of “strengthening moral education and pursuing academic studies, inheriting and innovating”, TUTCM has developed into a comprehensive university specializing in TCM education and covers extensive areas of study, namely as Medicine, Science, Arts, Management, Engineering, Education and etc. In 2017, the university was selected into China “Double First-rate” university and Chinese Materia Medica was selected into “Double First-rate” programs.

The University has distinguished teaching staff and sufficient resources for students’ internship. Currently it has 2 National Key Disciplines of Acupuncture & Moxibustion and Tuina and TCM Internal Medicine. There are 3 affiliated hospitals, 4 non-direct affiliated hospitals, 119 teaching practice centers.Among them, the First Affiliated Hospital is a National TCM Clinical Research Base, the National Acupuncture Clinical Research Center, the National Acupuncture Clinical Foundation and the National Provincial Demonstration Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine; the Second Affiliated Hospital is the treatment center for Chinese medical difficult disease and has significant advantage for gynecological and encephalopathy diseases; Baokang Hospital and other teaching hospitals have unique treatment features in rehabilitation medicine, orthopedics, community health of TCM, integrative medicine and etc..

The University has extensive international exchanges and cooperation. It aims to cultivate international applied talents in clinic with solid theoretical foundation and excellent clinical skills which make it enjoy a high reputation world widely. It has formed TCM internationalization talents training system where the bachelor education is the main part. The system also covers master and doctoral education and short and long term certificate studies. Every year,there are over 2,000 international students from more than 60 countries and regions coming to study at TUTCM.

The new campus of TUTCM is located by Tuanbo Lake in Jinghai District, Tianjin. It covers an area of 145 hectares and the building area is 483,000 square meters. The nationally largest museum of TCM, Chinese Medicine Botanical Garden, the nationally most advanced Science and Technology Park of TCM and International Education Center of TCM are all under construction in the new campus, providing a more excellent study and living environment for students.

I. Application Requirements

A. Bachelor’s Program:

·Senior High School Graduates, or those with Equivalent Degree or Above;

·HSK test (Level 4) score is required for programs teaching in Chinese.

·Clinical Pharmacy, Clinical Pharmacy (Joint Education), ChineseMateria Medica, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Preparation, TCM Resources and Development, TCM Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Engineering require sound foundation of chemistry; Clinical Pharmacy (Joint Education) besides proficiency of English.

Notes:※Overseas Chinese Applicants for Bachelor’s program Must be Granted Foreign Citizenship for at Least 4 Years, During Which the Applicants Should Stay or Study in Foreign Countries for at Least 2 Years within recent 4 years.

※Applicants under 18 should proceed with notarization of the guardian in Tianjin.

B. Master’s Program

1) Medicine Program:

a.Basic Discipline:Bachelor’s Degree of any subject

b.Clinical Discipline (One of the Following):

·Bachelor’s Degree of TCM

·Bachelor’s Degree of Western Medicine may apply Basics of Integration of TCM and Western Medicine, Clinical Science of IntegrativeMedicine. For other subjects requireBearer of TCM or Acupuncturist License in his home countryorhas completed the designated TCM courses

·Bachelor’s Degree of other subjects except Medicine, and has completed the designated TCM courses or Bearer of TCM or Acupuncturist License in his home country

c.Bachelor’s Degree in Chinese Materia Medica, Pharmacy or Medicine for Chinese Materia Medica only. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing for Nursing only.

2) Non-Medicine Program:Bachelor’s Degree of related programs

C. Doctoral Program, Academic Type (One of the Following):

·Master’s Degree of TCM-related programs

·Master’s Degree related to Western Medicine Subjects, and Bearer of TCM or Acupuncturist License in their home country or has completed the designated TCM courses

·Master’s Degree in Pharmacy or Medicine or of related majors (For Chinese Materia Medica only)

Notes:※The applicants for Master’s or Doctoral Degree of Acupuncture & Moxibustion and Tuina with English courses should have Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree of Medicine or of related majors.

25,000/Ac Yr for courses taught in Chinese;

37,000/Ac Yr for courses taught in English;

37,000/Ac Yr for Clinical Pharmacy (Joint Education) when studying in TUTCM, that of UoN will be charged according to the rate of year in the University of Nottingham (It is approximately 18,063 GBP after discount in 2017).

B. Master’s Program

31,000/Ac Yr for courses taught in Chinese;

41,000/Ac Yr for courses taught in English;

C. Doctoral Program

.General Procedures for foreign applicants:

C.The applicantsapply X1 or X2 visa at China embassy.

D.Register in TUTCM immediately after entry into China, verify/re-do physical examination and apply for a residence permit within 30 days.
